They are not kidding when they say cozy queen, but if you're any kind of traveler like me, you don't spend much time in the room. Great location, great staff, and an absolutely gorgeous hotel! I will definitely stay here again!

I’m a return guest and would come back again and again - the property is clean and all of the (funky, industrial) amenities and spaces are well maintained. The staff is approachable and helpful and the in house dining spaces (Starchild and Rosevale) are top notch.

Last week was our 2nd stay at CIVILIAN, again for Armory and Art Week. Didn't disappoint! It was exciting to visit Rosevale Kitchen, the Cocktail Room and Starchild Rooftop, all of which opened after our first stay. As fantastic as CIVILIAN is, its number one asset are the staff--an A team! Cassandra, Akbar, Inga, Adriana, Alec, Michael, David and Nick are amazing! Thank you for a wonderful visit, and see you next time!

I'm a little conflicted because overall the hotel was great, but the "cons" make me question whether I'll return.
PROS: #1-Excellent location, especially if you're planning to see a lot of shows. Far enough away from Times Square to avoid the noise and crowds, but accessible to theatres and Hell's Kitchen restaurants. #2-Friendly, accommodating staff. It's clear they are short staffed but went out of their way to say hi and problem solve. #3-Cleanliness. Room and bathroom were spotless. #4-Super comfortable beds and pillows. #5-Bathroom had heated floors, great shower.
CONS - #1-Blackout shades did not cover the width of the window, so for the light sensitive, this is a major issue. Room was very bright at night and early morning from the light seeping in on 3 sides. After a long day of walking and exploring, a good night sleep was desperately needed but never happened. Staff tried to help by asking the engineer to see if it could be resolved, but to no avail. This is an easy fix-replace the shades that don't cover! #2-Rooftop bar is a "scene." There's a DJ on weekend nights that plays until 1, 2 am. Might not be a con for everyone, so be aware. I was 7 floors below, at the opposite end of the building and still heard the bass thumping. But only on the weekends. Weekend nights are also very busy with club guests, so more people, longer elevator wait.
Bottom line: If you're light/noise sensitive, come prepared! Also wouldn't recommend for families w/small kids.

Absolutely amazing. I loved the coziness of the room although the air circulation was poor. The Starchild lounge on the 27th floor was super chic. Enjoyed the Only Fans Martini. Definitely coming back

Beautifully maintained boutique hotel conveniently located in the Theater District. I appreciate the music inspired theme with nicely framed prints and the details that the hotel represented. Modern yet chic room which quality toiletries from Public Goods. The hotel has a gorgeous rooftop called Starchild; it felt upscale but not over the top. Drinks were delicious and service was quality. I would recommend

Very clean but very small rooms so don't be surprised. Perfect if you’re planning to spend most of your time outside if the hotel but if you do want to hang out the rooftop bar Starchild is great with amazing bartenders, shoutout Brandon.

The Civilian was well curated and stylish. Loved the atmosphere of the room, the Rosevale Cocktail Lounge, etc. Super clean! Wish we would have gotten up to Starchild on the rooftop but there was an event going on. Everything seemed very special. Would HIGHLY recommend!
