Park South Hotel, part of JdV by Hyatt

We didn't care for the attached restaurant. It wasn't very kid friendly. Server was snooty when asked for items to be made kid friendly. Food was super salty. Pizza was soggy, not NY style. Front desk and door staff were awesome! Very attentive and friendly.

We did a quick family trip to New York for a weekend, and this was a great spot. It's about 20 mins from Penn Station and even closer to Grand Central and very accessible to subway lines that run up to Times Square and Central Park. While breakfast isn't available through the hotel, there's a great restaurant at the bottom and a classic New York bagel spot next door. New York hotel rooms are always tight, but we had just enough space for our family of four.

The accommodations were perfect for moving my son back into college. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The rooftop bar/restaurant is very nice. Just one really minor thing, the shower door didn’t seem to stay closed. Hopefully it’s a minor repair. It would have been ideal if the family in the room nextdoor did not allow their toddler to scream their head off from 7-9am on a Saturday morning but I understand that sometimes kids can be inconsolable, and this is certainly not the fault of the hotel. Service was very good, property itself is clean and rooms are a good size for Manhattan. No fault of the hotel itself but right now - July 2023 - there is construction going on on 28th right in front of the hotel and despite the desk clerk stating that work usually starts at 8-9am there was loud cutting and hammering at 7am some days. You might want to call ahead and see if this work is still ongoing and/or request a room at the rear of the hotel. Also though I saw "great for families!" on this hotel on Expedia there were very few families like mine with a tween and teen and the area is definitely of average NYC sketchiness at night, coming from someone who has visited many times. I might replace the word "great" with "good for families" as there's nothing particularly appealing about the area or the hotel itself for kids. That said, the doorman was almost always present and it didn't feel unsafe.

We visited with our 9 & 7 year old kids and had the best time. Great staff, location, on site restaurants, perfect for an at home family feel. Grocery stores are near by to pick up snacks. I would strongly recommend to any traveling family.
