Grand Mercure Dubai Airport Hotel

I’ve booked a room for 2 adults and 2 kids and we got one double bed and then after asking several times they added one more single bed . My 8 year old daughter then had to sleep with my husband and I in the double bed. We had a terrible nights sleep and didn’t get what we’ve booked and paid for. The smell in the room was also not pleasant.

Booked in hotel.com website and paid for everything online! We arrived much earlier and asked if we can check-in early, first guy attitude at the desk was really average but then 4hrs later a kind filipino girl welcomed us and thankfully we made it to the room at around 12pm. She upgraded us to junior suite FREE OF CHARGE and said we need to pay small amount for UAE tax, Room was a great size, a bit noisy as we were next to playground but manageable. Breakfast is ok which for us was included to the booking. One of the things a bit disappointing was the fact one guy sleeping dirty on the couch in check-in area and keep swearing and abusing people around him and nobody from hotel bothered to remove him (see photo attached). We now back home and checking our bank account we’ve been charged double which will email to request refund)!! Overall this hotel is 3 star so good enough for overnight sleep only!

To start with I didn’t understand a word of English that the receptionist was speaking and she didn’t like to repeat herself. Nor did she understand me although I am from England. I made a booking for 2 adults and 1 child as on expedia who I booked with, a person up to 18 years of age is classed as a child my daughter is 15. On arrival they gave us a room with double bed and a cot. I questioned how on earth my 15 year old is going to sleep in a cot? The answer was that I made a booking for 2 adults and a child. I said but according to your website she is a child as she is under 18. They just didn’t want to know and asked for extra money to provide extra bed. House keeping was not helpful, it took them atleast an hour and no. of calls to remind them to deliver something. The design of the room was pathetic, the toilet and basin was in one place and bath/shower in another so after you finish with the toilet you have to run to another room to shower and there was no mirror in the shower room. The room felt quite small due to the weird design and lay out.

The staff at Grand Mercure were phenomenal. Adnan and Khaleed helped us with an early check in after our flight landed early. They were incredibly helpful and ensured a stressful situation was resolved quickly and enabled me and my family to enjoy our time in Dubai. They both went above and beyond what was required and can highly recommend the service

Room was recommended for families but only had one bed - for 3 people

Early check-in granted, great clean room, wonderful set-up, furniture. We were a family of four but there was only one king bed. I spoke to the reception and they promised another bed, but it never came. We also ordered food by the pool, but it came in an hour. There must have been an issue as several guests had similar issues. The waitress tried her best, but the manager came, refunded our money (we arranged other food) and barely apologized. Lastly, they painted the hall so it was very stinky, but nice and new.)) Great location to airport and warm fun pools/playground for children.

The best part of the hotel was the design of the exterior and lobby. Otherwise it’s a sad excuse for a 5 star hotel. The quality of the amenities were very poor, rusted and screwed taps were barely holding onto the walls. Our bathroom sinks were blocked. There were no toiletries other than shampoo, soap and conditioner. The staff were useless with any request we made. We waited for a luggage trolley for 30mins before we had to lug everything down ourselves. The food is barely edible. The hotel was filled with prostitution as well. This was especially disappointing since I had my young family during this stay. I do not recommend this hotel for anything other than convenience of being near the airport.

This was a great family getaway with some external functions away from the hotel. But the hotel experience was super! clean, high quality, friendly, and human. the property is in great shape and the team is tuned to serve. the quality of the towels could be upped. But overall very satisfied with the service

Convenient close to airport 5 minutes drive. Comfortable modern apartment for a family of 5 was perfect 2 full baths super clean , fast wifi, breakfast has a great variety of different choices egg station, cereal, pastries, pancakes fruits as well as traditional food a+, 5 minutes walk to the Metro Station. Nice pool area. Only down size is the airport shuttle runs every 1 hour... will definitely recommend.

I tried to call the hotel in advance to request a free shuttle from the airport. No one answers the phone. Then i email the hotel to tell them arrival time of my wife and small child. They say they will be waiting. My wife and small child look everywhere for the free shuttle. It is not there. They try to call the hotel again. No answers. Then she has to go back to the taxi area dragging luggage and a kid and pay for a taxi. "FREE AIRPORT SHUTTLE" is false advertising. Horrible. Then i complain to the reception staff and he tells me he'll look into it.. What good is that going to do us? And good luck finding your way out of the parking garage. There are no signs to direct you to the proper elevator.. wander helplessly with your baggage a while and you'll find it eventually
