Nusa dua has a lovely stretch of beach and hotels , Bali tropic is a nice hotel but it’s drink and food is very over priced compared to local hotels and the service is not the best.
We stayed in a suite which was nice & walked out for evening meals and drinks most of the time, as there was much more variety and better value for money in every direction.
Lovely rooms and gardens but the hotel is rather old fashioned in its repetitiveness. There is a constant moving of chairs and tables for buffets, which seems unnecessary and does not offer a relaxing ambience . Other hotels have made contemporary seating areas and offer similar entertainment with out the constant movement of people and objects .
At the beach and pool bar there is a culture of serving customers who stay regularly first,( tropic family ) it not very fair or welcoming to new guests and gets a bit frustrating when you’ve ordered your drink and then get ignored for 10-15 minutes whilst regulars casually push in ! Eventually we just went out and spent our money elsewhere.
Breakfast is lovely with perfect views and they have lovely traditional features around the grounds.
Walk out the back of the hotel turn right along the beach and for half hour and there are many beautiful places to eat and drink that offer many types of entertainment .
Turning left still offers drink places but there are a few derelict hotels there with unkept littered beaches, so wear sturdy shoes.

We had an okay stay at Bali Tropic but probably wouldn’t stay again. The beach area was lovely and pool was nice, we liked being able to walk along the beach to other resorts/restaurants.
We had a few issues however: WI-FI was terrible, it was unusable in pretty much all areas of the resort and we had to use our data roaming instead. Wouldn’t recommend if you are reliant on Wi-Fi and this is unacceptable for a 4 star resort. There was a small bottle of water supplied per person per day which was barely enough to brush our teeth and not enough for any drinking water. When I requested extra water they said we would be charged, so instead we bought our own from across the road. Also only had the one roll of toilet paper with no spare rolls in room and had to request more, they did resolve this quickly.
Buffet breakfast was OK but not great and not ideal for dietary requirements (I am coeliac). They would supply bread on request for me but it was like cardboard, and things like bacon were displayed on top of regular bread so I couldn’t eat it. Juice was sugary/processed juice. It was hard to eat a more healthy breakfast with the options available.
Good resort if you have young kids and want to stay by the pool or do water sports, just wasn’t a great experience for me and my partner.

Nusa Dua is a quiet area and this place is along a nice beachfront walking path. This resort is very indonesian with extra large rooms, bathrooms which was perfect when sharing with kids, etc. The slight problems we had were with the power points being broken, the wifi was pretty bad, the fridge stopped working at one point altogether - and we all got lost quite a few times going back and forth from the room (better signage might help?). To be fair, this is minor stuff and it's to be expected from a hotel in Bali. We loved the staff, they were incredibly friendly and kind. The buffet breakfast was the best out of all our stays in Indonesia. The pool and pool bar were great and of average size. If you're looking for a quiet, laid-back place to chill out this is it. Don't expect bright modern rooms, more balinesque, dark, timber but super big.

We loved our experience in Bali. This hotel was amazing. Beautiful place, with friendly staffing. We stayed for New Year's, and the party was marvelous. I am horrible to sleep due to noises, but I slept like a baby in this hotel. We are coming back!

We stayed here for 10nights with a family of 5. We had two delux rooms so we had three in one room and two in other. Kids ages are 13,14,15. All had a ball here. Lots to do with large pool, activities included water aerobics, volleyball, table tennis, billards. Beach was lovely too. Beautiful gardens, friendly staff. Buffet breakfast was good, everything you could want. Rooms clean and comfortable. Value for money and would come back here for sure.

We had a fantastic stay. The resort ticked all our boxes and did not disappoint. Would stay there again and highly recommend. The staff at the pool bar where excellent and also the staff at breakfast where very kind and accommodating to our infant grandchild.

Very disapointed in communication skills ie English. Frustrating.
The breakfast was inconsistent and not up to the standard of other hotels. Staff in the resteraunts very inexperienced and poor. Not interested in service. Happy to play with babies but not respond to others requests.
Was stranded due to volcano and negotiating another room at a similar rate was disraceful. I was laughed at to suggest I get the same rate and was required to do it all by myself with NO support.
I was alone and upset. Thus moved to the holiday inn and was treated with sympathy, respect and professionalism.
It did leave me upset alone and in Bali.
Bali Tropic thus lost 5 days of my purchases as well as another couple of friends that moved on due to how we were treated on our last day over trying to extend our stay at the same rate.
My best experience was the spa.
Well done to the lovely ladies.

Good:
- Quiet beachfront with comfortable seating
- AMAZING housekeeping and restaurant staff. Front desk staff were mediocre.
- Breakfast buffet was very good although some days didn't have adequate options for vegetarians/vegans.
Bad:
- VERY slow wifi (slow enough that you can't play a 144p Youtube video). Reception says they only guarantee good connection on the balcony. Huh? Most people use internet inside not outside.
- The hotel room is VERY old. Possibly the oldest fridge I've seen in my life. The toilet is gross and needs to be renovated.
- Thanks to the old hotel room door which doesn't seal/close properly, mosquitoes kept getting in and bite after I got out of the shower.
- Smells transferred easily into the bedroom because the toilet door has vents and there is no door separating the toilet/bathroom from the bedroom. The bathroom drain also stank intermittently.
- Poor soundproofing between rooms. Our neighbors below had a baby and would move furniture around at night and we heard everything.
- Spa is twice the price as hotels next door and the nicest spas in Nusa Dua (which offer free pickup/drop off).
- Although breakfast was good, lunch and dinner are incredibly average. There are so many better restaurants just outside.
We asked for a better room due to these issues and the front desk staff refused saying all the rooms are dated. We then tried checking out early and they wouldn't even offer a partial refund. Disappointing experience, won't be back.
