Great central location and surprisingly quiet. Let down by lack of tea / coffee making facilities or even bottled water in the room.
A loud dripping sound during the night, possibly from leaking air conditioning, meant we had to change rooms the following day; however, this was dealt with quickly and efficiently by reception.
The bar staff were friendly and very attentive, on the couple of occasions that we visited the bar.
Breakfast service good, apart from the service we received from the more mature French lady who seated us most days. On one occasion, whilst seated at our table, she took the menu my 16 year old daughter had been given and replaced it with a child menu, stating that we hadn’t paid for her to order from the other menu. We weren’t aware that there were different menus, as we had been handed the previous menu by one of her colleagues. The manner in which this was handled was heavy handed and inappropriate. All in all, not the 4 star experience I was hoping for, which is a shame as it could have been, and this was our Silver Wedding trip with our kids.

Loved that the property was extremely close to time square! Just down 44th street! The staff were awesome and very polite. The only downfall for me was that there was no ice machine on any of the floors. No fridge or microwave in the rooms. However we did request dor a fridge to whoch one was brought. The wine cooler in the room didnt work, but we dont drink anyways. We actually thouht it was a fridge until we called and said the fridge in the room wasnt working. Other than that, it was a great business hotel. Didnt see any kids or teens here and was here for 6 days. Seems to be more of a business-like hotel..Not my type but was ok..

The Sofitel was a great fit for our weekend in the city. The location was perfect.
Unfortunately, we had some hiccups with our stay. There was swinging sound above our room on the 29th floor that sounded like metal swinging back and forth.
The gym was pretty outdated, broken covers on treadmills, dirty, not much room for free weights, very close quarters.
The “Executive Suite” was decent, outdated, blurry tv, stained carpets, hinges on the shower were broken so the glass door would drag on the floor making a terrible sound.
Checked in. Was told someone would bring my key to me in the lobby, we waited almost an hour and when I went back to the desk that person was no longer at the desk, and I was told our room had been ready for a while. Then, Two of the staff at the front desk gave us wrong information and we were then billed more than we were told our stay was.
Housekeeping service kept knocking on our door to ask about cleaning times. 7am woke us up with a knock to ask when they can clean our room.
I wish we were informed about the parades happening that weekend before we actually arrived. Sat. Was some sort of parade closing 6th Ave and 44th. Sunday was the big one though. The Puerto Rican day parade which closed 5th Ave and 43rd . Love having pride for your country but the amount of alcohol and marijuana and nudity our kids were exposed to a little heads up before we checked in would have been nice.
Overall great location, staff was meh, cleanliness was meh.

This did not feel like a 5 star hotel, we were super dissatisfied.
We rented a suite because we were traveling with our daughter and wanted her to have her space and us ours, we did put in the reservation one child and there were no sheets, blankets or pillows for her, we called housekeeping and they took more than one hour to bring them over and after several calls and some yelling.
Also they did not leave any water, there is no coffee or tea in the bedroom or any details that make your experience feel like a premium-5star hotel.
We will definitely not stay here again.

The room was booked for 2 adults and 1 child but the room only had a king bed, so we had to ask for a pull out bed. There was also blood stain on the carpet, next to the bedside table, I asked for it to be cleaned but it wasn’t so I had to ask again. Great location from Time square (5 minute walk) and the subway is 2 minute walk away.

Once again, we had a great experience staying at Sofitel. Everyone was always very attentive and warm which was a joy to encounter. We really appreciated the unexpected upgrade to a suite, as we were traveling with a baby. Merci pour tout!

Overall, our stay with Sofitel NYC was a fine, average stay, however for me this is problematic from the fact that this was a Sofitel property. The staff were friendly though often over-promising, as in with the predicted time for valet bring the car around, etc, and the room was clean and spacious though clearly had seen its time of guests (chipped veneers, scraps/scratches on walls, furniture, chipped tub). I particularly took issue however with the valet parking. We parked using the valet for convinience despite my reservations for $85/day (note that if you do not take the car back out within 24 hours you will be charged for a full other day regardless if you are late by an hour or two). After giving up the keys, I was getting notices from my vehicle's app that the car was left unlocked with the driver window down. After talking to the front desk, they discovered that this was valet policy to leave the window down in case they get locked out (though they should have the keys so this makes no sense to me). The cars should always be locked. Into the evening however, I got notifications several times that my car was unlocked and started. I've never had this happen with a vehicle in valet. After talking to front desk at checkout, the individual let slip that they are looking for a new valet service as it is "not up to standard"...no kidding. Overall we will not be staying again.

Hotel was great. We were a little disappointed that the bar closed so early as we were there for a family celebration. The beds, as always, were sublime.
