Hilton Garden Inn New York/Manhattan-Midtown East

The location of this hotel is perfect for a family weekend in NYC. It was a quieter part of town but within reach of anything you could want to do. While the rooms were small, they were clean and the staff was very friendly. Valet parking is a MUST for folks like us that don't know the area.

Ignore the detractors. This isn’t The Plaza, and it doesn’t try to be. It’s a good, clean property in an excellent location. MTA stop (E, F, and 6) across the street and it’s a reasonable walk to the park or Times Square. Great restaurants nearby. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a Double Queen room for two adults and two kids (16 & 12). Decent size for a hotel room in NYC - room to walk around the beds AND space to sit at the desk. Housekeeping is as requested - don’t expect daily turndown service with chocolates on the pillows - and when we requested it, we got quick cleaning service. Excellent room climate control. Best shower/water pressure of any hotel we’ve stayed at in the city. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Our family stayed here 2 nights, (2) queen beds. Beds were comfortable, bathroom is fine. The room was pretty small for a family, but the rate we paid was one of the cheapest in that area so we can't complain. Overall nothing special. If you are looking for a simple room in midtown it's fine. It is a pretty good location to walk to midtown and also be close to decent restaurants, cafes & bars around 2nd Ave.

Our experience was okay overall. Beds were comfortable, and room was clean. However I wished there was more room to keep luggage since it’s supposed to be for a family of 4, and a small dressing table. The elevators needs to be fixed, long waiting times, and one of the two elevators was not working during our stay.

I’ve stayed at a few hotels in the area and this place definitely stood out for me. Place was clean, the greeting I received while checking in made me feel welcomed. My family and I will be back

Overall, my family and I had a very enjoyable four night stay at this Hilton Garden Inn. There were a few hiccups which brought my review down from the very highest notch, but there were many extra pluses that bring the rating up again. Upon arrival at 3:45 pm, we were told that if we wanted our rooms on the same floor (we did), we would have to wait 30 minutes (despite check-in being at 3 pm)… Every 15-20 minutes the manager, JR, who was super calm, friendly and helpful throughout, came over to assure us the rooms would be ready very soon. In the meantime, JR was good about apologizing, offering chips and snacks to the kids, offering wine/drinks to the adults, and consistently following up with us and for us. Finally, we got our room keys at 6:15 pm. We had just enough time to run and drop off our luggage before heading out to dinner. (Bonus: there are several very good restaurants nearby. Also, with 8 rooms per floor, it is nice and quiet.) The hotel has a total of 2 medium sized elevators, which are also used by the housekeeping staff. There are 28 floors, so it suddenly made sense why the housekeeping took so long to clean and make the beds. Luckily, during our stay we didn’t have to wait for the elevator for more than 3-4 minutes on average -except the last day when we (and probably half the hotel) were checking out. We waited easily 25 minutes before we forced ourselves onboard an already very full elevator. We made it, but phew -don’t be in a hurry!

Our family greatly enjoyed our stay at this property. The staff was extremely friendly and responsive to any requests. The hotel was clean and quiet. We enjoyed the location and the beautiful city view from our room! We would highly recommend this property and would definitely reserve at this hotel again in the future. I would definitely stay again! The staff were super helpful and friendly and the room was clean, modern, and superbly located. The shower was hot and the breakfast was delicious. I had to take off one star from facilities because one of two of the elevators wasn’t working and due to our Thanksgiving stay, we had a long wait and a crowded ride. I overheard the front desk staff calling to have it serviced, so hopefully this won’t be an issue much longer. The fridge wasn’t working/cold either and since our small family stayed one night, we didn’t bother calling. Again, the minor issues didn’t detract from a great overall stay! I would reserve it again a heartbeat.

Great location. We didn't eat here and at our request our room was not serviced during our stay so cannot comment on these. Staff were friendly, rooms were clean, paid parking was just around the corner which was fine too. Having said all this, my one complaint, which I will be following up with Hilton on was the pushy timeshare salesperson we encountered during a telephone call to the hotel. Honestly, Hilton, in times like these when people are feeling the pinch financially I find this hugely disappointing that a big company like yours would be linked to this. We are a small family on a two year USA adventure, travelling extensively and we will be very reluctant to ever stay in one of your hotels again. This is a real shame.

Nice hotel lobby and close to some good restaurants but that was all about it. Parking is a big issue and hotel’s staffs didn’t care to help. If you come with minivans/SUV/truck don’t stay here because you will have big problem with parking even if you plan to park it at the hotel and take taxi to attractions. There are no open garages nearby for those cars. Hotel has nothing besides rooms and a double queen beds rooms are super tiny, not even enough rooms for your luggages. Hotel hallways have no AC, super hot but at least the AC in the rooms are working very well. Very disappointed to stay here especially if you come with families/friends/groups
