Sheraton Istanbul Atakoy Hotel

The hotel is great and the location is very nice. We had a nice view of thew Sea of Marmara and the kids enjoyed the stay. Hotel staff was very friendly. When I booked it said the hotel has a shuttle but when calling they mentioned the shuttle is not for airport transfers. 10 min from the airport by cab but the way back is longer due to security checkpoints. The cab fare was supposed to be $6 according to several sources but the cabby asked for $13 - one way. Oh well.

The hotel itself was fantastic. The food, view, pool, and spa were great; however, its location is a logistical problem for tourists. Unless you arrange tours and excursions that pick you up at the hotel you must take a taxi to get anywhere, even to the train station. The hotel has a couple of free shuttles that drop you off relatively near (within 1 mile) of different attractions, but they do not give very good directions to the tourist sites and their timing is neither frequent nor convenient. This hotel is great if you are there for business, they have multiple news channels in English, but nothing free for the kids or relaxation. It is near the airport and has wifi access for a fee. Yes, they charge for internet. The Expedia site for the hotel is wrong. The hotel is on the waterfront; however there is no "beach."
